Visiting the Olympic 2012 shop in the Olympic Park last week I was intrigued by how the design of the Olympic mascots had come about and also what their shapes signified.
Here’s the lowdown on Wenlock (Olympic Mascot)
- The head shape represents the 3 medals won in each event
- The light at the top is inspired by the London taxis
- The friendship bands on the right arm signify the 5 colours of the Olympic rings
Here’s the lowdown on Mandeville (Paralympic Mascot)
- The head shape is like a helmet -aerodynamic and featuring the 3 paralymic colours
- The light at the top is inspired by the London taxis
- Personal best timer on the right wrist helps keep track of performance.
And there you have it.

St Johns Wood - Tube Station
CityStore Self -Storage provides self storage rooms for residents of St Johns Wood (or St John’s Wood). CityStore has over 250 units available for use by both domestic and business customers who can store practically anything they need.
St Johns Wood is located on the Jubilee Line which is the Underground’s newest line but which serves stations that are over 100 years old. The Jubilee Line was inaugurated on 1st May 1979 and linked up the most recent sections of new tunnelling to open in central London – the four km (2½miles) of twin tunnels between Baker Street and Charing Cross – with the former Bakerloo Line branch between Baker Street and Stanmore.
Here’s an amazing stat – The Jubilee Line is used by more than 400,000 travellers a day and by over 127 million passengers per year.

Lords Cricket Ground - St John's Wood
The home of English Cricket, Lord’s, is situated in St John’s Wood just over a mile away from CityStore Self Storage in Camden Town.
The English have a particular affinity for the game of cricket and, despite the fact that over the last 10 years we have not been a team of world-beaters, our recent exploits Down Under have raised the profile of the game once more. Suddenly, men throughout the country are dusting off their cricket bags and are ‘padding up’ to play Sunday cricket.
The cricket season is only short so rather than clutter up a room with all the various items of kit, why not store it securely until the next season’s opening match. For people living in the areas of St John’s Wood, Hampstead and Belsize Park, CityStore is only a few minutes drive away. Being open 7 days a week, your goods are always accessible whenever you need them.
