CityStore’s management team has significant experience in running self storage centres. The company was established in October 2008, by Rod Edge, Mike Smyth and Charles Wilkinson. Before this they previously owned KeepSafe Self Storage, which was sold in 2007. Rod was also the Managing Director at KeepSafe and has worked in self storage for over 30 years. He played a pivotal role in creating the UK Self Storage Association, serving as Chairman for the first three years. CityStore’s first storage centre opened in Camden Town, London in 2009. Since then it has grown to include sites in Dunstable and Aylesbury, with further exciting growth plans.
Simon has over 19 years’ experience in the self storage industry and has a great depth of knowledge of this industry, as well as the retail sector. Simon worked for KeepSafe Self Storage for four years, working as a store manager before taking a role within head office. He then joined Storage King as part of the management team for 12 years. Simon joined CityStore in December 2018 and is responsible for leading ongoing success and growth. An energetic and competitive person, Simon belongs to several local sports clubs. He’s also a keen gardener and particularly enjoys growing vegetables in his allotment.
Sarah has over 12 years’ experience within the self storage industry. She worked in various accounting roles before joining KeepSafe Self Storage two years before its sale. Sarah joined CityStore as part of the original management team in October 2008, bringing her industry insights with her. Sarah is an avid baker, and regularly supplies our office team with tasty treats.
Paul has over 16 years’ experience in self storage and a wide knowledge of all aspects of storage centre construction. Paul started out at KeepSafe Self Storage where he worked as the IT and centre development manager. After the sale of KeepSafe, Paul worked on a consultancy basis for a number of self storage operators, before joining CityStore in November 2008. Given half the chance, you’ll find Paul having his meetings on the golf course!
