Have you ever thought about whether your house number is lucky or unlucky? Probably only if the number is either 13 or 666 have you even considered it. But now the results are in and the unluckiest house number has been revealed. In an article reported on the BBC after website visitor information was released by Confused.com, the unluckiest number has been found to be 243.
Since January 2007, more home insurance claims were made by those living at 243 than from any other since January 2007. The number 13, which has always been considered the unluckiest number, was way down the list at 182nd. Also found in the top 10 were house numbers 190, 240, 241, 221, 217, 218 and 121 with the majority of claims being the result of accidental loss or damage in the home, with a small minority the result of theft.
“Now is a peak time for home insurance claims as there have been more people in the house over Christmas which usually means more accidents,” said Gareth Kloet, head of home insurance at the website. In cases of insurance claims where more major repairs are necessary, many people use short-term self storage.
Being able to move furniture and other goods out of the house for the duration of any works results in the work completed quicker and prevents any further damage to anything else.
